Assistant Corporation Counsel I – Collection Ownership and Administrative Litigation

The City of Chicago Department of Law is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel I (ACC I) in its Ownership Unit.  The attorney will be responsible for preparing and reviewing title searches to determine property owners, responsible parties, and proper service of process in preparing for litigation for Municipal Code violations. The ACC I will abstract, compile, and examine documents from public records and review chains of title to identify property owners and responsible parties and litigate those decisions in the Department of Administrative Hearings, help develop and implement procedures and protocols, conduct law clerk training, and work on a variety of special projects. The ACC I will work under the general supervision of the Deputy, Chief, and Supervising Attorney of the Division and assist in the counseling of various Client Departments.
